During the Church media conference in Rome, Pat Ryan Garcia presented the campaign “What Have You Done for Your Marriage Today?“
It’s a great example of a successful Catholic multimedia campaign that used radio, television, billboards and the internet to reach out to a large audience.
The most brilliant aspect of this campaign was how it involved the target audience by challenging them to give a personal answer to the question “What have you done for your marriage today?” It’s a direct call to action and behavioral change, which is one of the aims of the campaign.
I see some ways to make this campaign even more interactive though:
- Post the videoclips in which people answer the central question on YouTube and allow bloggers to embed the clips on their website.
- Create a place on the campaign website where people can post their own video responses to the question.
- Make the main part of the website less static, and more news- and community oriented. In that way, people will keep coming back for more.
- Offer bloggers and webmasters a widget with the daily marriage tips that they can publish on their blogs and websites.
- The marriage quiz is a great idea, but instead of offering it as a .pdf file, why not make an online version of the quiz?
If you have other ideas on how this campaign could be improved, post them in the comments!

I must be doing something right. We celebrated our 18th anniversary last Monday (5/5).
We had a hiccup in our marriage a few years back, but used a Catholic program called Retrouvaille (http://www.retrouvaille.org/), it literally changed our lives and brought me back fully into the Church. Thanks for pointing us to this though, I think we continually need to work hard at our marriage to make it the best it can be and to grow closer to God as one!
Funny you should ask. Today is the day each month (first Wednesday) that I fast for my wife. I have joined a group called E5 Men (stands for Ephesians chapter 5) who all fast on the first Wednesday of the month for their wives, mothers, girlfriends or many other women. Here is the link.

We sat outside to enjoy the sunny weather while having dinner and I did not rush to come back to the Internet
Interesting timing with this; the only time my wife and I really fight is over money, and that is a vicious factor right now.It always gets ironed out, but for a few days every other month or so, we have undue stress in our lives.
Greg, thanks for the tip on fasting, Im going to look in on that!
